Group Show

Invite

This show is the result of a series of discussions, with some artists I have known over the years, which were centred around the notion of the reality of God, in relation to discourses and currencies (visual and philosophical) in the art world today. What came about was a shared interest in the investigation of numinous perspectives amongst current modes and idioms arising from secular discourse that is predominant in contemporary arts.

The artists in the show work in video, tattoo art, drawing, painting, and installation. This exhibition, which focuses mainly on painting and drawing, is a foray in the exploration of a subject that is usually dealt with a sort of nervous irony or avoided altogether. It attempts to keep a dialogue open which moves beyond the polarity of the secular and religious and typical definitions of numinous representation in contemporary Art.

The approaches are varied and aren’t necessarily direct in terms of the subject at hand. Whatever the starting point for the work, it has been executed with the reality of God in mind.
